Time to Migrate from vBulletin to phpBB
For all you that have been following our “Bulletin Board” (BBS) segments here is an update.
In cooperation with vBulletin’s copyright terms I now recommend that vBulletin users migrate to phpBB and remove vBulletin IMMEDIATELY. The July 12th TechTalk segment on BBS will still be aired however we will be featuring phpBB and NOT vBulletin as advertised on the scroll. Although I don’t personally understand the Copyright issues, the fact that there are issues is reason to move your systems in my opinion. The vBulletin staff has been very nice and cooperative as always.
Moving is very easy and we will show you how during the TechTalk segment. We will also post complete instructions on how you can make the move in about 10 minutes fully automatically. AND IT IS FREE!
The big question is “how good is phpBB”. The answer is OUTSTANDING. It is better than vBulletin during my cursory review and the “public reviews” support this. See the phpBB summary below directly from the phpBB site (http://www.phpbb.com/).
So to all of you that were linking to those live WEBCAMS through www.kraftfam.com you will notice the new phpBB format is up and running. To all of you contemplating starting a BBS I suggest you start with phpBBS, it is easy to use, full featured and FREE! Had this Copyright issue not surfaced I may never have discovered phpBB.
