Your Utah Channel 3 team—Scott Kraft and Richard Berk—is heading to Amusement Expo International (AEI) 2026, the premier event for the out-of-home amusement and family entertainment industry. Sponsored by the Amusement & Music Operators Association (AMOA) and the American Amusement Machine Association (AAMA), AEI runs March 16-19, 2026, at the Las Vegas Convention Center. Education sessions kick off March 16-17, with the exclusive trade show floor open March 18-19—drawing over 5,500 professionals and 300+ exhibiting companies focused on turning play into profit.

This year, we’re concentrating on the high-technology devices and connectivity advancements transforming arcades, family entertainment centers (FECs), route operations, and amusement venues. The industry is embracing next-gen tech to deliver immersive experiences, boost efficiency, enhance security, and drive revenue—perfect for Southern Utah operators managing seasonal tourist traffic in places like St. George, Cedar City, and beyond.

Key high-tech highlights we’ll explore include:

  • Extended Reality (XR) and Virtual Reality Systems: Advanced XR platforms, including VR headsets, mixed-reality attractions, and location-based experiences, create fully immersive games and simulations. These devices feature high-resolution displays, precise motion tracking, and haptic feedback for realistic gameplay, drawing longer play sessions and higher per-visit spend. Sessions on “Making Money with XR Technology” showcase best practices for operators integrating these into FECs.
  • AI-Powered Tools and Analytics: Artificial intelligence is reshaping operations with practical applications like predictive maintenance for machines, dynamic pricing, player behavior analysis, and automated marketing. Hands-on workshops cover AI for boosting efficiency, digital marketing results, and route optimization—helping reduce downtime and maximize earnings in variable-demand markets.
  • Cashless, Connected Payment and Validation Systems: Frictionless payment tech—EMV, mobile wallets, stored-value cards, and app-based solutions—integrates seamlessly with games and attractions. These connected systems speed up transactions, improve throughput, provide real-time reporting, and minimize cash handling risks, all while tying into central management platforms for multi-location oversight.
  • IoT Connectivity and Smart Device Integration: Networked amusement devices use IoT for remote monitoring, real-time diagnostics, firmware updates over-the-air, and centralized control. Sensors track usage, detect issues early, and enable predictive servicing—cutting repair costs and extending equipment life. Cybersecurity roundtables address protecting these connected ecosystems in an increasingly digital industry.
  • Advanced Redemption, Merchandisers, and Interactive Attractions: High-tech prize systems, crane games with smart controls, and interactive walls/screens incorporate connectivity for leaderboards, social sharing, and data-driven prize stocking—enhancing engagement and repeat visits.

For Utah’s growing FEC and arcade scene—balancing family-friendly fun with seasonal highs—these technologies offer real advantages: scalable connectivity reduces on-site maintenance, AI analytics optimize staffing and inventory, and immersive XR/XR devices create standout experiences that compete with home gaming. Exhibitors showcase how these innovations turn virtual trends into tangible income while keeping operations secure and efficient.

We’ll be on the show floor March 18-19, diving into live demos, education sessions, and hands-on exhibits focused on connectivity and high-tech devices. This is where operators discover tools to future-proof their businesses and elevate guest experiences.

We’re fully credentialed and ready for comprehensive coverage—no past regrets! Stay tuned for our on-site reports highlighting the tech driving the next era of amusement entertainment. Whether you’re a route operator, FEC owner, or distributor, AEI 2026 is where “Next Is Now.”
