MODERN ARCH STRUCTURES; The Future of Home Building and Design
CEDAR CITY, Utah – Modern Arch Structures, LLC (MAS™) has developed an innovative system for designing and building homes out of an arch structured design that is both affordable and built to last. The arch structures have a variety of applications including but not limited to residential, commercial, industrial, and public service arenas. The design uses components that are a part of the final design and has a one week construction time period. Each model consists of a square concrete foundation, a concrete encapsulated plumbing raceway and electrical conduit, and has a thin shelled concrete structure. The system is open and spacious with square corners and high ceiling height and comes with a variety of exterior finishes and optional accessories.
The MAS™ system is made out of 100% concrete with formed openings for windows and doors making it almost entirely indestructible forming a life span of 100s of years. The arch structure is natural disaster proof, fire Proof, environmentally friendly, and requires virtually zero maintenance. It also comes with a 20 year unconditional warranty which can be extended to 200 years for a nominal 10 year inspection fee. It all depends on what options and accessories you desire but a standard structure including plumbing and electrical would cost you well under $25 (USD) per sq. ft.
Currently, the structures come in two models both built and tested, the MAS-570™ and the larger MAS-1300™. The MAS-570™ is 570 sq. ft. and includes 2 bedrooms, 1 bathroom, a kitchen/dining area, and a central living room and can be built for less than $10,000 (USD) for a standard model. The MAS-570™ can also be built in a high occupancy community/compound design, which can be built for approximately $500 (USD) per occupant. The larger MAS-1300™ is 1,300 sq. ft. and includes 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, a kitchen/dining area, and a large central living room. A loft option with a metal spiral stair case is also available for the MAS-1300™ model. Both models have the option of being connected to one another.
The MAS™ concept was developed under a shroud of secrecy at Southern Utah University under the leadership of Professor Matt Edwards. This classified project called “Discovery” set out to design the ultimate structure(s) with an open span area of between 500 sq. ft. and 2,000 sq. ft. Since his work began in 2010 MAS™ has raised the bar in what is possible in home building and design and seeks to bring arch structures to the masses and help build a better world.
