From the ‘Spooktacular’ to a ‘Salute to Youth,’ Southwest Symphony kicks off 2018-19 season; ticket promotions available
ST. GEORGE — The new season of Southern Utah’s Southwest Symphony kicks off on Oct. 25 with its annual “Halloween Spooktacular,” followed up by a spectacular lineup of concerts.
In addition to the Spooktacular, concertgoers will be treated this year with the Christmas tradition of Handel’s “Messiah,” “The Best of Beethoven,” “Salute to Youth” and “Trip to Italy,” as well as vocalist Lexi Walker.
The Spooktacular has become an overwhelming community favorite, and a second performance has been added this year on Oct. 26 to ensure everyone can enjoy the fun.
Lucas Darger, musical director for the Southwest Symphony, said each concert will feature guest artists and unique visual elements that will delight audiences of all ages.
“Our patrons are treated to an unforgettable evening that goes beyond the excellent music,” Darger said.
The Southwest Symphony has been providing quality entertainment in the St. George area for more than 37 years, and Darger said the group has become a true gem in the community and earned the distinction of Southern Utah’s finest.
Even audience members who don’t enjoy “classical music” will love the symphony’s Entertainment Series concerts, which include the Spooktacular and performance by Walker. And passionate symphony fans will adore the symphony’s Masterwork Series concerts, which feature some of the greatest pieces ever written.
See description of all concerts in the Southwest Symphony 2018-19 season below.
Season ticket packages to attend all six concerts are available until Oct. 20 for just $67 – service charges and ticket fees included – a savings of up to 42 percent.
In addition, those who purchase the promotional season ticket packages will receive access to a reserved seating area for a free Messiah performance in early December to usher in the holiday season.
“I would like to personally invite you to attend our performances this season,” Darger said. “I am confident that in addition to having an enjoyable experience, you will also feel enriched and energized as you listen to Southern Utah’s finest musicians!”
Season tickets provide the best value, but individual tickets are also available. For more information, visit the Southwest Symphony website or call the Cox Auditorium box office at 435-652-7800.
